Tips For Throwing a Kid's Princess Party

Yesterday was my little sister’s 7th birthday and we had a princess party at our house. It was definitely a success and it’s amazing what you can do on a budget! Thank you to all of our family and friends who attended and helped out <3

Decorations

I did all of the decorating with the help of my mom’s stalking of Pinterest for the past week. We used disposable table clothes for the two main archways in our house and when they were not long enough, I tied them together and put balloons at the knots to hide it. All balloons were just in small packs from the party store and we blew them up ourselves. One wall was lacking decorations, so I took white twinkling lights from my room (Christmas tree lights work the same) and hung them on the wall with some balloon clusters and ribbons. Food

The birthday cake was ordered from a Walmart bakery but, if you have the time and talent to make your own cake or cupcakes then go for it! The cake was half white cake and half chocolate to please as many people as possible. We did individual ice-cream cups in chocolate and vanilla which eliminated the complicated issues of scooping hard ice-cream, what proportions to give people, and what flavor ice-cream everyone wants with which flavor of cake. Since the party was in the middle of the day, 3-5pm, we didn’t do a whole meal because it was between lunch and dinner time. Instead, we did chip bowls, a veggie tray, and a fruit platter. Drinks were just a bunch of different juice boxes for the kids, bottles of water, and paper cups set out with ice and two liters of pop.

Activities and Party Favors

SInce we didn’t have a whole lot of space for games, we decided to go a different route. The little girls decorated crowns and the little boys decorated shields that my step-dad had spray painted before the party. It was so adorable and all of the kids had some artwork to take home with them that was also used for dress-up at the party. Speaking of dress-up, as party favors the little girls got princess skirts, wands, and costume jewelry. The boys got blow-up swords and, as you can imagine, those were a big hit with both the boys and girls.
