What do you do?

I’m a full-time shopping editor for BuzzFeed, a blogger/content creator, and occasionally I do some freelance writing.

When and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging back in 2014, while I was in college. I knew I wanted to write about fashion, but I didn’t know how. I didn’t have any connections and I didn’t see very many people who looked like me in my favorite magazines. I decided to create this space on the internet so I could work on my writing, gain some experience, and show people that plus size women of color deserve space in the world of fashion. I fell in love with using my voice and sharing my experiences, so over the years my blog has evolved into so much more.

What did you study in college?

I got my B.S. from Eastern Michigan University in 2016, where I double majored in Journalism and Fashion Merchandising with a minor in marketing. Then, I got my M.A. in 2017 from Syracuse University where I studied Arts Journalism.

What made you move to NYC?

I knew I wanted to move out of Michigan at a very young age. When I was about eight years old I saw the movie 13 Going On 30 and I was like, “Wow, I could be a writer and live in New York one day!” From then on, that became the goal. I knew that if I wanted to work in journalism and/or fashion that NYC was the place to be. I used graduate school to help me get here and I’m obsessed with everything this city has to offer.

What camera do you use?

Most of my content is shot on a Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II. I also own a Canon EOS Rebel SL1, but that doesn’t get used as much anymore. I enjoy working with photographers when I can too (they’re always credited at the end of a post). Other than that, I use my good old iPhone 8 when I need to!

What platform do you use for your blog?

I use WordPress and I’ve never had any issues with it. In the last couple years, I started self-hosting through BlueHost and it has been a great investment. And my blog layout was purchased on Pipdig.

I love your style, where do you shop?

Since shopping is pretty much my expertise, I feel like I can find things almost anywhere! But my favorite stores are ASOS, Universal Standard, Good American, Dia & Co., Forever 21, Target, and Adorned By Chi.

What size do you wear?

As someone with PCOS, my weight fluctuates a lot, but most of my clothes are a 16/18/20 depending on the brand or XXL (XL if it’s a men’s steetwear brand or designer because most don’t carry plus women’s sizes). And I wear a women’s size 7 in shoes or 5.5–6 in kids sneakers.
