Sometimes we find ourselves in a position that we need to make some extra money on the side to our full-time job. Fortunately, we live in an age where that is becoming more and more accessible to many people. The internet has opened up the opportunities for people to make some cash online using their skills, ideas and experience. Let’s take a look at some of the ways you can make some money using the web as your source.

Gig Economy

The phrase gig economy has become popularized in the last few years, but it is probably familiar to people who have been freelancing for a living. It is a phrase that is used to represent the companies that offer temporary work or freelance work online. For example, the likes of Uber and Grubhub are referred to as gig economy, and their work is app based. If you can drive, then you can be of service to these companies and in return they offer you customers on an app.

However, there is a stay at home alternative. Companies like Fiverr offer you the opportunity to sell your skills to a wide range of needs. People use these websites to buy and sell apps so if you’re able to build one then you can make some money freelancing through these channels. In addition, writers, creative designers, and people with experience in all kinds of business have the chance to utilize their skills through gig economy websites.

Blogging

One of the drawbacks of the gig economy websites is that you are working for somebody else still. If you want to earn money working for yourself then you should consider starting your own blog. Not only can they be healthy earners, but you are also given the creative freedom to write about whatever you like. If you currently are running a business, consider the benefits of starting a blog as a means of extra income, but also to promote your brand. Writers can use this tool to promote their writing skills, and after building up sufficient users, can start to earn money through paid advertising. Agencies like Google Adsense offer you access to pay-per-click advertising on your website as well as pay-per-impression. Both of these are fine ways to make some extra cash, but you will need a high visitor count to make any serious money.

In addition to advertising, blogging also opens up the opportunity to other revenue streams. You can sell digital products like eBooks and creative content like music or video. Both of these are good ways for you to develop your blog’s brand while earning income. Most importantly though, if you are looking to earn while you blog you will need to create high quality, engaging content. The more people who visit your website, the more chances you will have to increase ad revenue.

These are just two ways that the internet is opening up the world of making money outside of traditional full-time employment. What is it that you truly enjoy doing? Can you make money from it? If so, then what are you waiting for?
