This was my second year attending BeautyCon NYC. I already shared some of my favorite looks from the festival, but since I have so many photos and takeaways from the weekend, I wanted to give you guys an overall recap of everything I saw and did! Here are five highlights from this year’s BeautyCon in NYC.
Doin’ It For The Gram
One of the main things that you get out of BeautyCon is a whole lot of #content! Almost every vendor booth has backdrops and props for the ultimate Insta. Some booths even took it a step further and could made you GIFs or short videos. I still have to decide which pictures to post on my feed!
The Booth Experiences
In addition to photo setups, many of the booths also had really amazing decor, free product samples, candy, and more. There were some that would braid your hair and others that would paint your nails. The vendors did a great job of creating memorable moments throughout the event.
The Celebs & Influencers
At BeautyCon, they have a main stage area where there are talks and panels being conducted throughout the day with major celebrities and influencers. There were a few specific ones that I sat down for. One was with Issa Rae, Regina Hall, and Marsai Martin to talk about their new movie “Little.” Another was with Yara Shahidi. And the biggest one featured Cardi B and her sister Hennessy. You can see snippets from the talks in my BeautyCon vlog. It’s also pretty cool that a lot of the celebs and influencers will do meet and greets or just walk around and take pictures with people.
The Beauty Community
One of the best things about conventions or festivals is all the cool people you meet. This year, I had my friend Rachel with me and Kailena was shooting my photo and video for me. It made it more enjoyable to have them there and I got so much more fun content. I also got to network, meet people and hand out my business cards! It’s so fun seeing all of the fashion and makeup looks and just meeting other bloggers, YouTubers, and beauty enthusiasts in general. I even did a couple of interviews while I was there.
Free Stuff!
And of course everyone wants free stuff! As I mentioned above, a lot of booths give out free samples. I left with bags of lipsticks, hair products, stickers, a pop socket, a fanny pack, hair dye, and more.
Most of these photos were taken by Kailena Sampson. Follow her photography Instagram account.
