How To Throw The Ultimate “RIP To My 20s” Birthday Party

Happy Aquarius season! I just turned 30 on January 20th and I hosted an “RIP to my 20s” birthday party. Last year, I had an Old Hollywood party and it was so much fun. Lately, I’ve been seeing versions of the “death to my 20s” theme pop up and since it’s my big #DirtyThirty I figured it was the perfect idea to execute. I wanted to share everything from my invite to my decor to give you some ideas if you’re interested in using this theme too!

My Funeral-Themed Outfit

This dress from Fashion Nova was exactly what I envisioned! Sparkly, elegant, and sexy. I really loved the long sleeves with the feather trim (it’s January, so it’s cold). For accessories, I added sparkly block heels, a crown, a black veil, and some black tights. I also had some black shades with me to complete the “funeral” look. And to spice things up a bit, I wore a red wig.

RIP To My 20s Party Invite & Venue

I used Partiful to create and send my invites. I’ve used it for tons of parties and get-togethers, so I would definitely recommend it. It’s super user-friendly. The custom flyer I added to the invite was made on Canva. And the awesome apartment I hosted my party at was booked through Peerspace. I love looking through Peerspace for photoshoot locations and party venues. This spot was located in Little Italy, Manhattan and everything went really smoothly.

And here’s the mood board I sent to everyone to give them some outfit inspo!

RIP To My 20s Decor

I commissioned my good friend Anuli to custom make the tombstones and I think they turned out amazing! That was definitely my favorite part of the decor. And literally everything else was from Amazon. We had a time limit on the venue, so I only had an hour to set up with a couple of my friends. Because of that, I didn’t want anything too difficult. And I’m super happy with how it turned out! Here’s a list of everything I ordered on Amazon:

I also made adult gift bags for my friends and they were a big hit! Sadly I didn’t remember to take a picture of the goodies. Here’s everything I bought for them:

There was a 30th birthday guest book for all of my friends to sign. I made a couple of custom games on Canva. The first was a quiz and whoever knew me the best won. The second was a word search and the winner was whoever finished first. I gave Starbucks gift cards as prizes. And at your next party, don’t forget to set out a disposable camera to capture the memories!

What do you think of my “RIP to my 20s” birthday party?
