First Impressions
I honestly wasn’t that familiar with Kat Von D until I heard of her cosmetics line. I debated trying it for a while, but I kept putting it off because the lipsticks are $21 each. However, one day I finally caved and decided to try a couple. What tempted me the most was the fabulous studded tubes.
Studded Kiss Lipstick
I wanted to try colors that I didn’t already have in my collection. I ended up purchasing “Piaf,” which is a dark brownish color with a purple sparkle to it, and “Plan 9,” a vibrant shade of emerald green. They are both really wonderful colors. They do last a longtime as well. The only complaint I have about the formula is that it does peel and flake a little while you wear it. It would probably work best with a lip primer underneath.

“Rock Candy” Studded Kiss Lipstick Minis
A few months later, I was lucky enough to get a couple more vibrant colors to try out. After I finished my internship at Nylon Magazine they gifted me with a bunch of beauty samples. Included in it were two more Kat Von D lipsticks in sample size. The colors were part of the limited edition “Rock Candy” lipstick set (currently on sale at Sephora for $27). One was a hot pink and the other was a bright purple. I think the colors are super fun and with the right look, they could really make a girl stand out on a Friday night.
