Last Thursday, I went on a field trip to a business called The Runway in Downtown Lansing. It is a fashion incubator and retail showroom that helps local designers start the foundation for their own line. There are different programs and different monthly fees involved in joining and my career path isn’t really in design, but it was still really cool to see the resources offered right here in Michigan. Personally, I really enjoyed the speakers from both the Runway and the Michigan Garment Industry Council (MGIC). I think the facility is lovely and it provides a lot of opportunity for fashion designers in Michigan who maybe don’t want to go to New York or Chicago or those who don’t know the next step to take in order to develop their business.
