September 2018 Favorites + Reflection

September was another busy month, but I had so much fun! I got to go on vacation, enjoy the end of summer in the city, and I started my own YouTube channel (make sure you SUBSCRIBE to that)! It was a pretty eventful month and I was able to get into so many exciting things. Check out my favorite products and moments below.

SEPTEMBER FAVORITES:

Beauty: I’ve been wearing my favorite nude lipstick “Crème in Your Coffee” by MAC Cosmetics. It’s perfect for the summer to fall transition and it can complete any look.

Movies: At the end of the month I saw Night School starring my two favorite comedians Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish and it was hilarious! I really liked it. On Netflix, I watched Sierra Burgess is a Loser and I have to admit that I was a little disappointed. I’ve seen better rom coms on Netflix and personally, I’m so over the whole “fat, self-loathing girl vs the hot skinny girl” thing. This movie did have some awesome nuances, but I think they could have pushed the story a little further.

TV Show: On Netflix I finished one of my favorite shows, Young & Hungry. I’m so sad it got canceled and I was really disappointed with the ending. They should totally give fans more closure with a special episode or a movie!

Book: In September, I read the book Her by Pierre A Jeanty. It was another really great collection of poetry. I read it all in a matter of two days because it was so good. The poems are very short and easy to digest, but they are also so full of vulnerability. Pierre really understands women and I was beyond impressed by his level of sensitivity and openness.

Theater: I was lucky enough to see another show on Broadway! My friend and I saw Anastasia and it was wonderful. The costumes were gorgeous, the set was mesmerizing, and the music and dialogue were very entertaining. My only complaint is that the villain was vastly different in the play than it was in the animated film. But overall it was a really lovely experience.

Songs: I downloaded Eminem’s new album Kamikaze and I’ve listened to it a couple times. I haven’t decided what my favorite track is yet. As someone from the Detroit area, I’ll probably always have a love for his raw style, brutally honest words, and talent for lyricism.

Places: The biggest thing I did in September was definitely my vacation in Miami. My best friend and I went to South Beach, Miami Beach, and Wynwood Art District. It was so much fun! Back in New York, I attended Candytopia in Midtown, had dinner with some friends at Dinosaur BBQ, and had coffee with blogger Austen Tosone from Keep Calm and Chiffon at a Brooklyn coffee shop called Hungry Ghost. And while I was in Brooklyn, I also grabbed my first rainbow bagel from The Bagel Store. Lastly, I attended the Global Citizen Festival at Central Park and saw Cardi B and Shawn Mendes perform live.

SEPTEMBER REFLECTION:

As I’m sure you can tell, September was a ton of fun! In addition to traveling and going to a bunch of fun events in the city, I finally started my own YouTube channel! I have enjoyed making and editing videos even more than I thought I would. And all of the events I attended, from the play to Candytopia to the outdoor concert, were all great experiences. September was all about having a good time and enjoying the moment. Don’t forget to take a break and have some fun — we deserve it!

SEPTEMBER SNAPCHATS:

xoxo, Kayla
