Brand Founder: Jacque Amadi
Behind the Brand: I came across Adorned By Chi about a year ago when I was interning at NYLON Magazine and I was writing a roundup of black fashion designers. I was instantly obsessed and began following the brand on social media. Since I’ve been working at CafeMom, I actually did a full story on Adorned By Chi and you can read what Jacque had to say about her brand here. When I interviewed her for CafeMom, she said:
“I created Adorned by Chi as a way to honor God (Chi means God in Igbo), but also to widen the scope of how Black women are seen in fashion. I love flowy, feminine, super soft aesthetics and I noticed while browsing for clothing online that the shops I loved most rarely used Black models. So I make it a point on my site to highlight Black women and men in flower crowns, pink hair, and flowy skirts!”
To thank me for the article, I did receive two adorable pins, a sticker, and a very thoughtful thank you note. But, this month was the first time I purchased from the site. Since it’s Black History Month, I decided that I wanted to support a black business that I haven’t purchased from before and Adorned By Chi was the first one that came to mind! So I bought this dope “Melanin” raglan inspired by Space Jam (one of my favorite movies ever) and I also bought a “Black Girl Magic” keychain. I love absolutely everything! The brand mailed everything timely and kept me up to date through email. I would highly recommend!
