A Look Inside Color Factory NYC

A Look Inside Color Factory NYC

A couple weeks ago my friend Rachel and I went on our latest Instagrammable pop-up museum adventure. Past experiences I’ve been to include OMG Dessert Goals, Life Coach, Wonder World, and Candytopia. The latest one, Color Factory, is an interactive exhibit that debuted in San Francisco in August 2017. Last summer, they opened one in Soho, NYC. My friend and I love checking out these fun installations and we usually have no idea what we’re getting into. This one ended up being one of my favorites!

My other friend and fellow journalist Rachel George actually featured me in an article about pop-up museums, so check out what I told her about Color Factory for Travel Noire

Admission

Color Factory was really fun and interactive! First of all, you have to purchase your tickets online ahead of time — you can’t buy them at the door. Admission is $38, which is a little pricey for a museum ticket, but you do get snacks. We had to wait in a line to get in, which was a little long, but time went by fast. They gave us free mochi ice cream while we waited and they also had a free coat check, which came in handy since it’s winter.

The Experience

Once you enter, the museum is split into multiple different rooms, with each room offering a different approach to color. The experience included: sitting down and actually drawing a picture, playing music on xylophones, dancing in a neon-lit room, eating candy and other snacks, and more! They also provided you with little cards that you could scan at different photo booths throughout and it would automatically send your images to your email. It was a really cool idea, but sometimes the lighting wasn’t great, so I’m glad I brought my own camera as well.

The Blue Ball Pit

My favorite part of the exhibit was the ball pit at the end. It was huge and all blue. It’s not very often that an adult gets to go into a ball pit, especially when you don’t have kids. It was so fun! Of course you have to be careful not to lose your phone, but it definitely made for a great photo opportunity!

What’s your favorite color?

I’m so indecisive, I’ve always said I had four: blue, green, pink and purple.

xoxo, Kayla
