If you spend a decent amount of time on social media (or the internet in general) then you’ve probably heard of a VSCO girl. If you’re not familiar with a VSCO girl, it’s basically a trend going around with young people, mostly Gen Z teenagers. It’s today’s version of a “Tumblr girl” — a specific aesthetic that consists of specific behaviors and products, mostly stemmed from internet culture.
Quick facts about VSCO girls:
- They use the photo editing app “VSCO” (hence the name).
- They have a Tik Tok account.
- They’re environmentally conscious, especially when it comes to saving sea turtles.
- They overuse the phrases: “And I oop” and “Sksksksk.”
- They embrace being #basic and are all about good vibes and positivity.
- Think of their style as a mixture between the early 2000s, boho, and skate culture.

So due to my fascination with this trend, plus the fact that I own many VSCO girl things, I decided it would make a great last-minute Halloween costume. I wore this look for a party I attended last weekend and I figured I would share it in case anyone out there still doesn’t know what to dress up as.

My best friend Kailena did her own spin on the costume as well.

What You Need For A VSCO Girl Costume:
- An oversized T-shirt and/or hoodie (probably paired with biker shorts)
- White Vans, Birkenstocks, Crocs, or chunky Fila sneakers
- A messy bun or a bucket hat
- A reusable water bottle decked out in stickers, preferably a Hydro Flask or Nalgene
- A LOT of scrunchies
- A shell necklace
- Friendship bracelets
- And don’t forget to say “Sksksksk” and “And I oop” throughout the night!
