NYFW Review: BADGLEY MISCHKA FW20

NYFW Review: BADGLEY MISCHKA FW20

On Saturday, February 8, Badgley Mischka presented its Fall/Winter 2020 collection at Spring Studios. Inspired by Downton Abbey, the collection was elegant and glamorous. There was a lot of metallics and gems, as well as some sequins, velvet, and peaks of tulle. There was a good mixture of formal and daytime looks, with all of them maintaining a similar level of sophistication and awe.

The collection was mostly structured with neutral shades of black, beige, and white. However, there was the exception of a few floral prints, a tiny bit of animal print, and pops of ruby red. There were high necklines and puffy sleeves on some garments, which really reflected the Downton Abbey era. But, things did become more modernized at times with chic blazers and a shimmering jumpsuit.

The models were styled with very sleek buns, red lips, and minimal accessories, which really allowed the clothes to shine. The whole thing felt like a movie, with very rich and fabulous characters. I definitely think that Mark Badgley and James Mischka’s vision successfully came together in a very cohesive and memorable collection.

Inclusivity Check: This show was decently inclusive in terms of race, with a handful of visibly Black and Asian models. Sadly, it was not size inclusive.
