Work holiday parties can be a lot of fun. They’re a time for you and your coworkers to loosen up and do a bit of bonding. Many of them consist of food, drinks, music, and maybe even games or Secret Santa. But another part of the evening that usually involves some planning is finding the perfect outfit. Your holiday party outfit can be a fun chance to dress up and show your personality, outside of your usual office attire.
Here is what I’ve worn for work holiday parties to give you some ideas:
BuzzFeed Holiday Party 2021
My second BuzzFeed holiday party was a unique New York City-themed setup at a large Manhattan venue. It had dance floors, open bars, snacks, and performers ā which included a stiltwalker and a magician walking around and doing really impressive tricks.
For the party, I wore a gold shimmery midi skirt with a low-cut black velvet bodysuit. I used some gold and pearl statement hair clips to pin back the side of my curls. The rest of my jewelry was gold too, to complement the skirt. And I wore black booties from Target so I could dance all night without my feet hurting. My bag was a small black Telfar x Ugg tote with a fuzzy trim. I didn’t get great pictures of the look, but I thought it was worth sharing. Especially if you’re looking for something festive and glam, but not too over-the-top, and still pretty comfy for the evening.
BuzzFeed Holiday Party 2019
My first BuzzFeed holiday party was at a Manhattan club called Up&Down and it was the most extra work holiday party I ever attended. The club was two stories and each floor was playing different music. There was food, Christmas-themed cocktails, photo booths, a secret karaoke room, and even drag shows!! One of my coworker/friends danced with me all night long! We had a blast. Here’s what I wore for the occasion…
I love velvet for a holiday look so I rocked a teal velvet jumpsuit with a long sleeve black bodysuit layered underneath. Then I added a fabulous purple-blue metallic blazer, which was definitely the focal point of the look. And I accessorized with a little heart-shaped purse and my silver metallic Fila Distributors. And because I’m stubborn and didn’t want to wear heels with these long, flowy pants, I rubber banded them at the bottom so they wouldn’t drag on the ground.
I was super comfy all night long and I didn’t feel underdressed either. I did get a little warm at times while I was dancing around, but I didn’t want to take off the blazer because it was the best part of the look haha. Jumpsuits are a great way to still feel dressed up, while being comfortable, especially since I wasn’t really sure how other people would be dressed. This outfit ended up working out pretty well!
