My Word For The Year Is Discipline

My Word For The Year Is Discipline

I’ve made a vision board every year for a long time now. I love setting goals and getting in the right mindset to achieve them. Although we are already a few weeks into 2023, I wanted to share my vision board and my word for the year. In January, I decide on my annual word and vision as way to center myself, but I still like to share it for a few reasons. First, it helps me hold myself accountable. Second, I love being able to look back at the end of the year (or even future years to come) and see where my mind was at during this point in time. And third, I always hope that what I share can encourage and inspire my readers in one way or another. So let’s get into it!

My Word For 2023

Discipline. This word honestly intimidates me a bit. Although I am organized and goal-oriented, I can also tend to be impulsive and I hate to deny myself things that I want. This has worked out well for me in my career, living situation, and other aspects of my life. However, it also results in me having a lack of boundaries. I tend to say yes to everything first and then find myself overwhelmed later. It can be difficult for me to stick to a schedule because I try to do all the things right away, instead of spacing them out. Which is oftentimes, not very efficient. And although I love embracing the chaos of life (see what I did there), I also acknowledge the fact that it would be good for me to slow down a bit and be more intentional.

This is why I want to focus on discipline in 2023. And this word can be applied to so many different aspects of my life. I want to be more discipline with my posting schedule and setting aside time to work on larger projects. And I also want to demonstrate more discipline when it comes to my faith, my health, my finances, and my time in general. Being more discipline will mean saying no to plans sometimes, budgeting better, and putting my phone away more often. These are all things I really struggle with. But, I know that if I learn to work more efficiently, it will benefit me in the long run.

My 2023 Vision Board

This year, I made a physical vision board with my friends. But then I went back and made a digital one as well so I could have it on my phone and iPad. I recently posted 29 things I want to do while I’m 29, but I will still share some of the specific goals represented on my board.

Here are the quotes I chose to include on my vision board:

  • Pray more, worry less.
  • Keep doing your best. Your best is always enough.
  • Other people’s opinions do not pay your bills.
  • Boundaries are your best friend.

And some goals that the photos represent:

  • Reach 10k followers on Instagram.
  • Read more books.
  • Create more sneaker content.
  • Post more travel content (I have so much that’s never been shared).
  • Continue exploring NYC.
  • Travel to Atlanta.
  • Travel to Maine (or somewhere else I haven’t been on the East Coast).
  • Study the bible more and grow in my faith.
  • Be open to love and romantic connections.
  • Create more streams of income.

Did you choose word for the year? Or make a vision board?
