Barbie Picnic At The Park

Barbie Picnic At The Park

One of the best things that has come out of moving to New York City is building friendships with people who love to be extra and creative, have fun, and not care what people think. Growing up I always felt like my outfits were too crazy, my voice was too loud, and I always was the one forcing my friends to take a bunch of pictures. Now, I’ve found a group of girls who are just as loud and colorful as me! At times, even more than me — and I love it! So when one of us had the idea to do a Barbie picnic for no reason, the rest of us were ready to go all out. We all put together our best Barbiecore outfits, packed a bunch of pink snacks and decor, and headed to Astoria Park in Queens.

The Picnic Setup

This theme was pretty easy because we just needed a bunch of pink stuff. We had a pink blanket, plates, cutlery, bubble wands, artificial flowers, and candles. For food, we all brought different things and it turned out to be a pretty great spread! We had finger sandwiches, charcuterie, fruit, and wine — rosé of course.

Heart-Shaped Cake

For my contribution, I brought a cake and I really wanted it to be on theme. I ordered from Cakes by Nerwan in Astoria, Queens and they did not disappoint! I basically just told them it was for a Barbie-themed event and I wanted it to be pink and girly. They definitely delivered — the cake was three heart-shaped layers covered in pink and white icing and sprinkles. It was perfect.

My Barbiecore Outfit

For my Barbiecore outfit, I went with a Y2k vibe. My scuba midi dress is from Good American and I paired it with pink Puma sneakers, my Betsey Johnson heart-shaped sunglasses, Betsey Johnson camera purse, and pink butterfly hair clips.

And here is a closer look at my makeup. I used a pink eyeliner from Colourpop, a blended combo of matte pink and glitter shadows, and my favorite nude lippie, “Dolce K” from Kylie Cosmetics.

And be sure to follow my adorable friends Leah, Anuli, and Maryam!

Kayla, this is such an adorable idea. You and your friends look like y’all were having SO much fun. I’ve never been to this park, but when I was in the area, one of my friends and I LOVED having picnics. And the weather clearly didn’t disappoint.
