My Old Hollywood Birthday Party At The Williamsburg Hotel

My Old Hollywood Birthday Party At The Williamsburg Hotel

I recently celebrated my 29th birthday and, being the extra person I am, I wanted to throw a themed party. I decided on Old Hollywood Glamour after scrolling through Pinterest. And it was perfect because I’ve loved Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn since I was a kid. The outfit and decor came together so easily and the entire night was a dream! Here are all the details on my Old Hollywood birthday party.

Skyline Suite at The Williamsburg Hotel

For the venue, I booked a Skyline Suite at The Williamsburg Hotel. It was true penthouse luxury! Definitely the most beautiful room I’ve ever stayed in. Because the hotel has two bars and the suite was very spacious, I knew it would be a good place to entertain friends — and a gorgeous backdrop for the theme.

The room has a large king bed and floor to ceiling windows with a view of the Manhattan skyline. There’s plenty of seating, including a fabulous green velvet couch and stylish chairs and ottomans. The room has a little balcony and a desk. But the best part is the bathroom. The standalone tub sits in the corner of the room, surrounded by windows. The standing shower has beautiful blue walls and gold hardware featuring two shower heads and a double sink. And the toilet has its own little room for privacy. There’s also robes and slippers hanging for guests to use. Every detail was perfection.

Old Hollywood Cake & Decor

My stunning cake came out exactly how I wanted it. I ordered from Cakes By Nerwan in Astoria, Queens and picked it up the day before. All of my decor was purchased from Amazon. Here’s a quick list of everything I used to give the room an Old Hollywood vibe:

And here is the inspiration board I made beforehand to get a sense of what I wanted. I found all the images on Pinterest and put them together on Canva.

My Marilyn Monroe-Inspired Outfit

For my birthday outfit, I wanted to channel Marilyn Monroe’s iconic “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend” scene from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. My pink dress is from Fashion Nova and it came with the matching gloves. I accessorized with a white faux fur stole, fake diamonds, red lipstick, and sparkly heels.

Dinner at Westlight

Before the party started, a few of my close friends and I had a rooftop dinner at Westlight in Williamsburg. It was within walking distance from the hotel and the views were incredible. The drinks and food were delicious. It’s def a pricier spot, but it was perfect for the occasion. We ordered a bunch of small bites to share, like empanadas, shrimp dumplings, and truffle fries. And at the end, they served me vanilla ice cream with a sparkler on top.

A Night of Glamour and Opulence

After dinner, the rest of my friends arrived to the hotel dressed in gorgeous gowns, velvet shirts, and stunning headpieces. We had drinks at the bars (there’s one in the hotel lobby and a Watertower bar). Then, we all headed up to my suite for music, snacks, conversation, and of course a little twerkin’. We had a blast!
