Book Review: Nasty Galaxy

Book Review: Nasty Galaxy

Sophia Amoruso gives you Pinterest for your coffee table

About two years ago, I reviewed Sophia Amoruso’s first book #GIRLBOSS and I loved it. Her second book, Nasty Galaxy, stays true to the unfiltered badass persona of Nasty Gal that us fellow girlbosses have come to love. However, it is a lot different than her first book… or any typical book for that matter.

Nasty Galaxy is basically a well-curated Pinterest board in hardcopy form. A very visually pleasing (and heavy) hardcover that will look great on your coffee table. Despite it’s 272 pages, you could easily read through the whole thing in one evening at home. It’s more of a scrapbook than an actual book–consisting of photos of Amoruso’s home, her music and cinema icons, words of advice on love and friendship, and even some horoscopes are found throughout.

This book definitly doesn’t have you on the edge of your seat to find out what happens next, but it’s not suppose to. This book is a good source of visual stimulation and inspiration that relates to fashion, entertainment, and feminism. The sprinkles of humorous advice and profiles of other Girlbosses are refreshing and fun. This isn’t the kind of book that you take seriously or try to get some deep meaning out of or you will be disappointed. But, if you can take it for what it is–a creative look at Amoruso’s life and inspirations–then you will be able to get some enjoyment out of it.

What did you think of the book?
