Fall always seems to go by much faster than the other seasons. Since November is officially coming to a close, I figured I would give my last ode to autumn. Although the first day of winter isn’t technically until December 21, everyone seems to jump into the Christmas spirit immediately after Thanksgiving (including me) and BOOM, it’s winter. And with fall being so short-lived, the number one thing I end up missing most about the season is the fashion.
Of course summer has cute swimsuits and winter has fun faux fur coats, but fall and spring have the power of the layering jacket. That’s right, my favorite thing about fall fashion –– one of the main things I’ll miss –– is being able to step outside in a stylish lightweight jacket. Of course I also love the booties and the earth tones that come out during the fall, but a good jacket has the power to totally transform an outfit.
In my apartment, our coat closet is filled to capacity with jackets, with most of them being mine (just ask my roommate). I am obsessed with finding new jackets in different materials that are not just meant to keep you warm, but to serve as a statement piece. I have an oversized denim jacket, a velvet cropped puffer jacket, a leopard print windbreaker, the list goes on. And each one just seems to complete the entire outfit when I have it on.
This look in particular features a jacket I purchased just a couple months ago (check out my fall clothing haul here). It’s a rust-colored corduroy jacket that I got from Forever 21. Without it, sure the outfit would still be cute, but the jacket is what makes it feel stylish.
This look was worn to the pumpkin patch in October and I feel like it screams fall. From the denim to the boots, it really complemented the scenery. And now that we are moving into December and beginning to embrace the winter, I must bid adieu to my ’70s-inspired corduroy and my tan eyelet booties and make room for the knitted scarves and Uggs.
