This dress is my first designer dress that I’ve purchased for myself. I bought it when I was shopping in Soho this past summer. I had studied Anna Sui and did a presentation on her last semester. I was intrigued by her because she is from the suburbs of Detroit, like me, and her clothes are so vintage chic and different. I was determined to visit her flagship store in New York while I was there, and this dress was what I walked out with. Originally almost a $300 dress, I found it on the clearance rack for $78. Its unique shape and high-quality fabric was so different than anything I owned. Finally, months later, this is my first time wearing it. I figured it wasn’t right for summer, so the new fall weather gave me my opportunity to style it and wear it out. I went to the movies and the mall.
