Happy New Year! After spending NYE in Detroit last year, I decided to come back to New York City after spending the holidays with my family so I could celebrate New Years 2023 with my girls. I’ve spent New Years in NYC before, but most (if not all) of them were very chill and usually involved me and my roomie Kailena chillin’ in our pajamas. I’ve never had any interest in going to see the ball drop because it’s a disaster zone over there. You have to be there in the cold ALL DAY LONG and you can’t even leave your spot to use the bathroom — which is not appealing to me.
So instead, we planned to have dinner and hit up a couple of parties away from Times Square. And although there were some road bumps, the night was definitely memorable and a lot of fun!
My NYE Outfit
We started the evening by meeting at my apartment to take some pictures and shoot TikToks. One thing about having multiple creators in one friend group: we will ALWAYS get the content! For my NYE outfit, I wore a sparkly black bodycon dress with a high slit. It’s actually an old dress from Forever 21 that’s been waiting patiently in my closet to have its moment.
I accessoried with rhinestone fishnets from Fashion Nova and matching gloves I found on Amazon. I wanted to go all out with the silver/bling accessories, so I added a headpiece and sparkly bag from Amazon, a necklace from Shein, and hoop earrings. The black feather boa was mostly for pictures. It shed feathers everywhere, but it was a fun addition. And my black fluffy jacket is from Shein.
Dinner in Aurora Williamsburg
We wanted to grab a nice dinner before our first party. We ate delicious Italian food at a very cute place called Aurora in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. They had a special menu for the evening and the covered outdoor dinning area had twinkling lights and greenery everywhere — it was definitely a vibe.
Time to Party!
After dinner, we headed to a party in Williamsburg hosted by a radio station. It honestly started off pretty empty and there was nowhere to sit. But as it got closer to midnight, more people came and the music picked up. We danced and stayed there until our New Years toast.
After midnight, we wanted to find somewhere else to take pictures. We tried a gallery rooftop at first, but it was closed. So instead, we walked over to The Standard High Line and basically crashed a party. We just kinda walked in! It was ending soon anyway so it wasn’t crowed — and it was perfect for our New Years photos!
Afterwards, we were supposed to attend an “after 1 a.m.” party. But when we arrived, the line was super long and it was only going to be open for two more hours. We decided to dip and go to a strip club instead. Honestly, a great decision. We had a blast!
How did you spend your New Years?
