Eastern Michigan University Graduation: Done with this BS!

Eastern Michigan University Graduation: Done with this BS!

On Sunday, April 24, I walked across the stage at the Convocation Center and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism and Apparel, Textiles & Merchandising with a minor in Marketing from Eastern Michigan University. The ceremony was bright and early at 9:30am and it was your typical crowded, chaotic graduation environment. In attendance for me was my parents, aunts and sister. With over a thousand graduates, they did pretty well doing it as quick and painless as possible. It was super exciting and I got to sit next to my good friend Rachael throughout the entire program. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with University and Highest Honors 🙂

My graduation ended around lunch time so I invited my best friends and grandparents over for pizza and champaign… classy right? It was so nice having all of my closet family members from all three sides together. No drama, no nonsense, just a simple lunch. My two lifelong best friends came to see me from Michigan State University and The University of Chicago. We popped bottles, snapped pics and listened to my family reminisce about when I was a baby. Having my family and friends there made it a very special day.

What’s next?

After graduation, everyone always wants to know what your plans are! You have student debt flying at you full speed ahead, a challenging job market, and all the stress that comes with becoming a “real” adult. Lucky for me, I get to postpone all of that for one more year because I will be attending graduate school this summer. However, don’t get the idea that I have it easy for the next 12 months; I will be moving out of my parent’s house for the first time and I will be attending graduate school (seven hours away) in Syracuse, NY! I will be studying Arts Journalism at Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University. My program starts the first week of July so I basically have two months to get my life together and prepare for this next chapter of my life. Wish me luck!
