What I Wore For “The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience”

If you’re a fan of Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte on Netflix, then you’ve likely heard about The Queens Ball: A Bridgerton Experience, which has been making its way around to different major cities. It’s currently in New York City so, of course, I had to check it out. From finding the perfect plus size outfit for the queen’s ball to what the experience was like, I’m giving you all the deets. Located at Mediapro Manhattan Studio, tickets for the experience will be available now through July 31. Tickets start at $39 and go up depending on the day, time, and what add-ons you choose.

My Plus Size Outfit For The Queen’s Ball

When you’re plus size, it can be much more difficult to find exactly what you’re looking for when it comes to a theme or a special occasion. I knew I wanted a long, tulle dress and after checking most of my go-to retailers with no luck, I was starting to wonder if I would have to go in a different direction. Luckily, I found the perfect tulle dress on Amazon! It comes in sizes 2–26 and 39 different colors. I did size up because it was going to take a while to ship and I really didn’t have time for it to be too small. It ended up being a little big in the corset top, but definitely not bad at all. I was comfortable for the entire event and didn’t have to do any annoying tugging or adjusting. I also loved the sleeves and the slit.

All of my accessories are also from Amazon. I can’t lie, Amazon really came in the clutch. The crown, necklace, earrings, and bracelet came in a set — which was great because I didn’t have to worry about matching up anything. Since the jewelry was yellow gold, I found a cute, sparkly purse in the same tone. I already had the black tulle gloves and black lace-up shoes. And since black was my accent color, I added a black lace fan.

My ponytail is fake, but it honestly looks so much like my real hair! It’s just more full and long. I’m obsessed with it. The teal eyeliner, which matched perfectly, is from ColourPop and my nude lip is my go to “Dolce K” by Kylie Cosmetics.

Inside The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience

The experience itself is a lot of fun! Especially if you like dressing up and dancing. The decor is beautiful, with flowers and lights everywhere and there is live music. There are multiple photo spots and a bar. (BTW, I was able to use my American Express credit card to get a discount on drinks.) One really cool feature, is a section where you can get your portrait “drawn.” Basically, someone takes your photo and then it’s digitally edited to look a traditional painting and you can immediately send it to your phone via QR code. There was also snacks available for purchase and a gift shop.

The main “event” is a show that mimics aspects of Bridgerton. The queen is announced and she gracefully sits on her throne. People are able to “present” themselves to the queen by going up to her and giving her a curtsey or a bow. Then, a few other performers put on a beautiful show of dance, theater, and acrobatics. In between the acts and events, you can also join in on the dance floor and they even teach you some ballroom dance moves. At the end, the queen chooses someone as the “diamond of the season” and then they start playing modern music so everyone can party for the last 30 minutes or so. Overall, it was a lot of fun and I would recommend checking it out if it sounds like your kinda thing!
