Focus: My Word For 2024

Focus: My Word For 2024

I know it’s kind of weird to be posting this in late March and not in early January. I thought about backdating this post, but honestly, I want to be realistic about how difficult it can be to be motivated in the beginning of the year. Not only is New Years in the middle of winter, but it’s also right after the holidays and most people are going back to work and school after a break. We’re all fatigued and sleepy! Don’t get me wrong, I still love the fresh start of a new year. Plus, I have a January birthday, so I still love to make goals and plans around that time. But, this year especially, I had a lot going on and I found myself lagging a bit with my vision board and content plan.

Spring has always been my favorite season and I think part of that is because it gives a similar “fresh start” feeling that New Years does, except it’s kind of better because the weather is getting warmer and the days are getting longer. So, this year I’ve been trying to give myself some grace as I ease into my 2024 goals.

My word for 2024

Focus. My word for 2024. This isn’t too far off from my 2023 word, which was discipline. The reason I chose “focus” this year is because I have some big goals that are definitely going to require a lot of it. I want to focus more on my finances, my creative projects, and just building a strong foundation for myself in general. Now that I’ve moved out of NYC, I real want to ground myself and get in a good place for whatever my next adventure is. So, I’ve decided to cut back a bit on shopping and going out in order to focus more on my goals. I’m not saying I won’t do those things at all of course — I mean, let’s be real! But, I do want to direct a lot of my attention on completing projects, saving money, and figuring out what is next for me. Especially since I just turned 30!

My 2024 Vision Board

Here are the things represented in my vision board that I want to focus on this year:

  • Paying off my credit card debt
  • Building my savings
  • Getting a car
  • Decorating my new space
  • Exploring Detroit
  • Going on my first cruise
  • Taking road trips (Chicago is one I’d like to do)
  • Reading more
  • Keeping an open mind with dating
  • Praying more and reading the bible
  • Creating content that brings me joy
  • Exercising consistently
