What I Wore To The Nicki Minaj Pink Friday 2 World Tour

Last weekend, I finally got to see Nicki Minaj in concert again after nine years! The last time I went to a Nicki concert was in 2015 at the then-DTE Energy Music Theatre. I was very excited to see my favorite artist again, especially since I’m pretty selective about what concerts I go to. I’m the type of person that only wants to go to a concert if it’s an artist I really listen to and I can sing along to, like, 90% of their music. Besides Nicki, I’ve been to a Mariah Carey Christmas concert, I attended the Millennium Tour twice, and I saw Lizzo in NYC, but not much else in recent years. So, it was only right that I step outside for the Nicki Minaj Pink Friday 2 World Tour! And it did not disappoint.

Of course, I had to dress in pink like a true Barb. I wore a sheer, printed two-piece set from Shein. Under the skirt, I wore bike shorts, which made it super comfy (no thigh chafing!). And on top, I layered a pink corset top from Forever 21. I love the way the pink top broke up the print a bit and added some more shape to the look. For shoes, I just went with my go-to white Steve Madden sneakers. They’re super comfy and go with basically everything.

I kept it simple with accessories, just some rings and large silver hoops. My nails are pink and sparkly — and yes, that was on purpose. But what I think really completed this look is my hair! I was so excited with how good it looked because I did it myself. I bought some braid extensions from Amazon and curled the front pieces with my Beachwaver.

The concert was amazing! It took place at Little Cesars Arena in Downtown Detroit and I went with my friends Maria and Julia. We got the cutest (although very overpriced) pink drinks with cotton candy and glitter Barbie toppers. The show was supposed to start at 8pm, but it didn’t start until 10pm. But even though it had a late start, Nicki had greatttt energy. The staging was incredible, there were so many amazing lights and details. She obviously did a lot of songs from her Pink Friday 2 album, but I really appreciated that she did a A TON of songs from her other albums as well. I think she did about 30 songs throughout the 2.5 hour-long show. And she even brought out Big Sean and Sada Baby!

The only small negative was that Monica came out later in the show to perform, right before the finale. She gave a beautiful performance, but she def should have opened — I feel like maybe she was supposed to? Her slower R&B vibes caught me and my friends at a time when we were already getting sleepy. And then there was a long break before Nicki came out for the finale. That said, the finale was great! She performed some of her biggest hits, including two of my favorites: “Super Bass” and “Anaconda.” Overall, I really enjoyed my night and we all had a great time!
