Album Review: ‘The Pinkprint’ by Nicki Minaj

For those of you who didn’t know, Nicki Minaj is my favorite artist of all time. I’ve always loved female hip hop and Nicki just totally set the bar in my opinion. The Pinkprint is her third studio album and just like her last two, I had to get it. it released almost a year ago on December 12, 2014. Therefore, this review might be kind of useless since everyone has heard the CD by now, but since it’s one of my favorites, I thought I would share my opinion.

I think Nicki does a great job of spitting hard rhymes over more of a pop friendly sound. Her rhythm is always on point and she’s not afraid to say what she wants. I like how the CD incorporates both slower songs with raw lyrics and booty-shakin’ songs with dope beats. Featured artists include some pretty great names such as: Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Jessie Ware, Drake, Lil’ Wayne, Chris Brown and Meek Mill. My only complaint is that when I purchased the CD the day it came out from Target, there was an error with the CDs and my favorite song, Anaconda, was only the instrumental version with no lyrics. Fortunately, I already had that song on my iPod. Overall, I think this CD is her best one. I think she over did it a little with the slower songs, but I can’t be mad because she really poured her heart out in lyrics. This CD has won multiple awards this year; her most recent nominations being for the American Music Awards.
